Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary
The Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary is just north of Glasgow, right on the West Coast. Scone Palace
For a historical day out in Scotland, visit Scone Palace, a gothic stately home where Scottish kings were crowned. The palace is just a 10-minute drive from Perth and with a distant backdrop of the Grampian Mountains, Scone Palace is a beautiful place to spend the day. Blair Athol Distillery Visitor Centre
A little further along the A9 from Perth is the Blair Athol Distillery, the home of Bell’s Blended Scotch Whisky. the distillery offers tours and whisky tasting all day, all year round. See how they make some of the best whisky in Scotland, and buy whisky merchandise at the distillery shop.
Bo’ness Motor Museum
Bo’ness Motor Museum is a short drive away from Edinburgh and has a collection of over 30 classic and iconic vehicles. The founder of the museum, Colin Anderson, was a keen James Bond enthusiast and the museum is themed to reflect that and you can enjoy dinner in Miss Moneypenny’s Diner. there’s also a wide collection of car themes movie props and memorabilia, including the actual Jaguar XJ6 Series 3 model that Samuel L. Jackson drove in the movie ‘The 51st State’.
Vogrie Country Park
To the South of Edinburgh lies Midlothian, where there is a range of parks and woodland areas for exploring, the best of which is Vogrie Country Park. Spanning 11.5 miles of designated countryside, if the weather is nice there’s plenty of room for walks and bike rides. Or hire one of their private barbeque areas for a day to remember. There’s also children’s activities on throughout the year and a miniature railway to enjoy.
